We were pleasantly surprised with over 2 inches of slow rainfall this past week. This was a huge benefit to the course and came slow enough that minimal cleanup was needed. As the continue through the Summer months, please take the time to repair your ball mark and one other. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on the golf course.

Each Fall the tees on the Par 3s are overseeded with ryegrass to provide turf throughout the winter months. In the Spring, when temperatures warm up ideally the ryegrass will "fade away" and the Bermuda will replace it. Because this Spring was so long and cooler than most the ryegrass thrived longer than usual. When typical Summer temps hit all at once the ryegrass checked out quickly leaving thin turf on holes 11 and 13. To promote fast recovery, we have aerified all Par 3 tees and fertilized the tees on all 18 holes. This combined with the recent 2" of rain have generated a lot of growth and tees should all be good in another week.

Fairway Aerification

With the Member guest now behind us, we will begin aerifying all fairways this week. We will pull cores, mow them when dry and then blow the fairway. The fairways are very healthy and will recover quickly.

The entire course was fertilized a couple of weeks ago. That along with the periodic rain events have really helped a lot. We have also begun mowing the intermediate rough cut as well.

Fire Ant Control

We have treated all fairways, tees and greens surrounds with a fire ant bait. We will now begin spot treatments as necessary.

Greens Aerification

As we gear up for Spring, we will start with the first of two aerifications. This is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday 3/12-13. To ensure a speedy recovery we have been fertilizing the greens to promote more growth and will be using the smaller tines this first time around. Any questions please let us know and we look forward to seeing you on the course.

Free Firewood!

The Back 9 tree trimming project has resulted in an abundance of firewood looking for a good home. Please contact Scott at scott.fuller@ourclub.com for free wood.

Its Been A Busy Winter!

The mild Winter has allowed the GC Maintenance Team to accomplish a lot more than usual. Several sections of cart paths have been repaired, every tree on the Back 9 has been pruned and the entire property has been treated for Spring weed control. In addition we have spent a significant amount of time redistributing sand in ALL bunkers to ensure appropriate depths throughout.

Also we have had feedback regarding pin placements. We have re-visited this with the GCM staff and stressed the importance of pin locations. We promise to improve!

We look forward to the upcoming year and would really like as much as feedback as possible from all of you. Please help us use this blog to better communicate all Golf Maintenance issues. We look forward to hearing form you.
